The major concern that we have is that space tourism, and following that, space habitation is going to increase beyond our wildest imagination. As the early years of space tourism develop, less healthy and less medically studied individuals will be flying. In this near future, it will be more likely that a concomitant diagnosed or undiagnosed medical problem or anatomic variant will be enough to turn SOS into a major disaster that could end the space tourism industry, and disaster scenarios have been discussed as a factor in the downfall of this future, including articles such as that in December 2010 Scientific American.
